About The Event
Steer Roast is a weekend gathering of Senior House residents, friends, and alumni which has been held
annually since 1963. Events include the ceremonial lighting of the barbeque pit, two nights of live
music, the festive meal, the awards ceremony, and more.
Since the shutdown of Senior House,
Steer Roast has been held at various venues in and around Cambridge.

This is a work in progress and things are subject to change. There are events not on here that we are still working on figuring out time and location (pit lighting and mud wrestling for example). We will announce when the schedule is finalized and link a combined Roast and ESF schedule here when able.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the date different this year?
The reason we moved Roast up is to ensure that we still align with ESF.
The first weekend of May overlaps with Springfest, a bit MIT wide event.
When East Campus has it's courtyard this overlap does not pose a problem, but due to EC renovations,
this provides a significant issue for ESF.
Last year, ESF was unable to have any large outdoor space on Saturday because of Springfest, which
is a major deal since ESF traditionally is an event that primarily only happens on Saturday.
It was also a great headache for the ESF chairs and CAC to deal with the overlap in events since CAC
can only accommodate so many of their employees to dealing with the event's setup, clean up, on-call
managers, etc. .
Where will Roast be held?
The main venue will be the Cambridge Masonic Lodge which is located at 1950 Massachusetts Avenue
